The process of matching host families and au pairs can take up to a few weeks.

FIDEOJOY recommends submitting an application 2 to 3 months before the required date, allowing more time if travelling to a country that requires a VISA (e.g. The United States of America).

This will ensure a successful experience.

You are going to welcome a young adult in your family during several weeks or months. Please make sure that you share the same vision of the Au Pair's mission so that your experience goes as smoothly as possible.

FIDEOJOY connects Catholic families, Au pairs and students in a warm catholic environment, offering exchanges, language stays and Au Pair expériences. On this platform, you can now create your profile and search for sponsors. In a second step, we will give you access to the search so that you can find the young to realize an Au Pair experience!

1. Host an Au Pair in the USA

Host an Au Pair in the United States involves formalities below:

First of all, you must contact a certified agency (16 officially recognised) for the Au Pair to work legally in the United States. These agencies ensure a personalized assistance and help with the visa application. You must:

• Host for a minimum of 12 months
• The Au Pair has to be at least 18 years old
• The Au Pair should have a driver's license and a high school diploma.

Being part of a certified agency will also allow your Au Pair a J1 visa. First, the agency organizes an interview with the Au Pair, then, she has to provide specific documents:

• 3 references that attest to his/her childcare skills (references that will be checked)
• Clean criminal record
• Medical certificate (no smoking)
• Psychological test to ensure his/her abilities.

 Once these documents have been delivered to the agency and the visa confirmed, the Au Pair will be given a 5-day orientation course on arrival in the USA before starting work with your family.

We are not approved for visa formalities, a visit to an agency will be required. All informations given above have to be checked with the certified agency you have chosen for the formalities.

2. Host an Au Pair in the UK

• Host an au pair after Brexit. French nationals must apply for a study visa   
  • Study Visa: Any nationality studying a full-time English course (B2 or above) at an English university can work 20 hours per week as an Au Pair (depending on the course and the organisation)
  • The Au Pair has to be at least 18 years old
• Host an Au Pair in the UK after Brexit. Australian, Canadian, Japanese, Monegasque, Czech, Taiwanese, Zeeland, Chinese nationality must apply for a Tier 5 Youth Mobility Visa.
  • Tier 5 Youth Mobility Visa : Allows young people from these countries aged 18 to 30 to stay in the UK for 24 months

We are not approved for visa formalities. Your Au Pair should contact the English embassy for more information. All informations given above have to be checked with the certified agency you have chosen for the formalities.

3. Host an Au Pair in Europe

Become an Au Pair in Europe does not require any special formalities.

• The young person can be an Au Pair, from the age of 17, provided he or she has the agreement of his or her legal representative
